What Is UX/UI design? Definition & Guide

UX/UI design is the design of the user experience (UX, how it feels to use a product) and the interface (UI, how it looks): together they make a site or app easy, pleasant and effective.

UX and UI: two sides of the same work

UX (User Experience) is about logic: structure, journeys, clarity of steps, ease of completing an action. UI (User Interface) is about appearance: colours, typography, buttons, spacing. A beautiful but confusing site has good UI and bad UX; a functional but ugly one is the opposite. You need both.

Why it matters for your site

From design to build

The design is then turned into code on the front-end. Good UX/UI reduces frustration, lowers bounce rate and even improves SEO. In our e-commerce and custom sites we craft design from business goals, not just aesthetics.

Frequently asked questions

What is the difference between UX and UI?
UX is the overall experience of use — how easy and satisfying the product is to use; UI is the visual interface — colours, typography, buttons. UX defines how it works, UI how it looks.
Why is UX/UI design important?
Because it decides whether visitors understand, trust and complete an action. Good UX/UI raises conversions and sales; poor UX/UI drives users away even with a great product.
Is a beautiful site enough to sell?
No. Aesthetics attract, but the experience of use converts. A site must be both pleasant (UI) and easy to use (UX) to deliver concrete results.
